The goal of the campaign is to encourage teachers to make the importance of reading aloud at home every day part of their conversations with parents.
Red Raider Preschool would like to make a challenge to the parents and caregivers to keep track of their daily read aloud time on their fall reading calendar.
The Preschool staff is challenging every family to read aloud with their child for at least 15 minutes per day until December 15, 2016. That's when they will tally all the minutes spent reading.
If all of the families can read together for 40,000 minutes by December 15, 2016 every class will be treated to an ice cream party on Monday, December 19.
The Preschool teachers sent home a reading calendar in the student's red folder so that it can be checked periodically to update the school goal tracker to show the progress. Help your child mark off one circle for every 15 minutes spent reading with you.
15 MINUTES a day grows quickly into days and weeks of time spent together with a book. For parents, every day is an opportunity seized or lost forever.
Please hear this simple, powerful message: Read Aloud 15 MINUTES. Every child. Every parent. Every day.
Together, we can help our children succeed in their learning journey. We hope to celebrate our students’ success with sprinkles and a cherry on top!
